Ascension – one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the U.S. – is buying AMSURG. News of the St. Louis-based health system’s interest in AMSURG surfaced earlier this month, when Bloomberg reported Ascension was in “advanced talks” to acquire the ambulatory surgery center (ASC) giant in a $3.9 billion deal.
