ChristianaCare, US Health Partners team up to build cardiovascular ASC
Delaware-based health system ChristianaCare, through a joint venture with US Health Partners, plans to open a new cardiovascular ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in late 2027.
The 9,000-square-foot, $9.3 million facility will be located across from Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware. It will offer services such as diagnostic heart catheterizations, coronary and peripheral vascular interventions, ablation procedures, and pacemaker/implantable defibrillator implantations.
Atlas Healthcare Partners – which has an existing ASC partnership with ChristianaCare – will manage and operate the center, while Cardiovascular Physicians of Delaware will provide clinical oversight and perform outpatient surgeries.
“By expanding access to outpatient heart care, we can reduce wait times, improve the patient experience and lower the overall cost of care – while using our hospital resources more wisely and preserving capacity for patients who need complex or urgent cardiac services,” Kert Anzilotti, M.D., chief physician executive and president of The Medical Group at ChristianaCare, said in a press release.
See Vision Eye Institute unveils new surgery center
A Florida-based ophthalmology clinic recently opened a six-bed surgical unit, which the practice says will allow it to deliver more comprehensive eye care.
The surgery center opened in March and is equipped with two operating rooms and a laser suite, as well as image-guided systems and femtosecond laser-assisted techniques, according to Palm Beach County’s Town-Crier.
See Vision Eye Institute specializes in cataract surgery and LASIK alternatives including refractive lens exchange and implantable collamer lenses.
“This practice began as a vision – my dream to create a space where patients could access the most advanced eye surgery in a setting that reflects precision, efficiency and care,” owner and founder Jason Gorscak, M.D., told the Town-Crier. “With the opening of our new building and the launch of our surgery center, that dream is now a reality.

Shu Chang, M.D., of Colorado Springs Cardiology told Fox21 that the facility is the largest ASC in the state.
“This surgery center represents a major milestone for our practice and the community we serve,” Mark Baker, Colorado Springs Cardiology’s ambulatory surgery center administrator, said in a press release. “By bringing advanced cardiovascular procedures into an outpatient environment, we are enhancing access to care while maintaining the high standards our patients expect.”
United Digestive widens its Georgia footprint
The physician practice management company United Digestive has expanded its presence in Georgia as part of an aggressive organic growth strategy.
The Atlanta-based company said it recently opened or expanded four clinic locations in Watkinsville, Commerce, Dawsonville and Forsyth, Georgia, and it is building a new clinic in Cartersville. United Digestive also said it plans to open a newly constructed three-room ASC in Watkinsville later this year.
Additionally, United Digestive opened West Florida Surgical Suites in Tampa, Florida, in March, a move that added three new endoscopy procedure rooms to the company’s footprint. In addition to an ASC that will be housed in a multi-story medical office building alongside lab services and other specialities, the project will also include a micro-hospital with an emergency department. Local news outlet KREM2 reported that the hospital construction will comprise the first phase of the project, which will take about two years to build.
