Baptist Health, Compass expand Florida ASC network
Baptist Health, Compass Surgical Partners and Coastal Health have partnered with local physicians to operate Middleburg Surgery Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
The partnership has taken ownership of an existing 5,500-square-foot multispecialty ambulatory surgery center (ASC) with two operating rooms. The facility supports procedures in orthopedics, urology, otolaryngology, pain management and general surgery.
In total, 15 physician partners are currently affiliated with the center, which is located near Baptist Medical Center Clay in Jacksonville. In a related announcement, the partnership stakeholders said they are evaluating potential expansion opportunities as demand for outpatient surgical services grows across Northeast Florida.
“This partnership represents an important evolution in how we deliver surgical care in our community,” interventional spine and pain specialist Dr. Michael Greene, a partner in the center, said.
Compass Surgical Partners works with physicians and health systems to develop and operate ASC networks across the U.S.
Atlas adds Banner Surgery Center – Gilbert
Atlas Healthcare Partners has acquired Banner Surgery Center – Gilbert, expanding outpatient surgical capacity in Arizona’s East Valley.
Located near the Mesa-Gilbert border, the ASC includes five operating rooms and supports a range of specialties, including cosmetic surgery, ENT, general surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, total joint replacement and urology.
The acquisition strengthens the partnership between Atlas Healthcare Partners and Banner Health while expanding access to outpatient surgical services in one of the Phoenix region’s fastest-growing markets.
“As we integrate the center into the Atlas ASC network, our focus remains on delivering an exceptional patient experience while supporting sustainable growth alongside Banner Health,” Atlas wrote in a post about the acquisition.
Surgery Partners acquires Preferred Vascular Group
Surgery Partners has acquired Preferred Vascular Group (PVG), an ASC operator focused on dialysis access procedures.
Founded in 2005, PVG operates eight ASCs across Georgia and Ohio and employs 16 physicians and more than 160 staff members. The centers specialize in the creation and maintenance of dialysis access for patients with kidney disease.
The acquisition gives Surgery Partners entry into the dialysis access market, estimated at about $6 billion annually with more than 2 million procedures performed each year. PVG’s leadership team will continue to lead the operating entity as part of the Surgery Partners platform.
Ziegler served as the exclusive financial advisor to PVG in the transaction.
Community Health Systems sells Arkansas hospitals
Community Health Systems (NYSE: CYH) has agreed to sell four Arkansas hospitals and related outpatient facilities to Freeman Health System for $112 million.
The transaction includes Northwest Medical Center – Bentonville, Northwest Medical Center – Springdale, Northwest Medical Center – Willow Creek Women’s Hospital and Siloam Springs Regional Hospital.
The hospitals collectively represent more than 480 beds and include associated outpatient centers and physician practices. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2026, pending regulatory approvals.
The sale is part of Community Health Systems’ ongoing strategy to divest certain hospital assets.
Woodside Health buys ASC-anchored medical office building
Woodside Health has acquired the Greenfield Medical Office Building in Phoenix.
The 29,828-square-foot property includes a fully occupied medical outpatient building anchored by Mountain View Surgery Center Gilbert, an ASC owned by physicians in partnership with United Surgical Partners International (USPI).
Other tenants in the building include ophthalmology, dental and vascular practices. Woodside Health said the acquisition marks its third transaction of 2026.
