Compass Surgical Partners launches cardiovascular facility
Compass Surgical Partners has partnered with local physicians to launch the Cardiovascular Surgical Institute of Northwest Florida, according to a Jan. 28 press release.
According to the announcement, the 8,000-square-foot outpatient facility is focused on interventional cardiology, electrophysiology and vascular surgery procedures. Supported by fixed Philips Angio imaging systems in two fully equipped catheterization labs, these procedures include diagnostic and interventional coronary interventions, cardiac device implants, atrial fibrillation ablations, peripheral artery interventions and dialysis access.
“This is a major leap forward for cardiovascular care in the Florida Panhandle,” said Dr. Amir R. Haghighat, an interventional cardiologist at the Institute. “We’re bringing high-quality, lower-cost interventional cardiovascular and vascular care closer to home for the communities we serve.”
Scott Bacon, senior vice president of corporate development at Compass, framed the launch as part of a broader shift in the ASC sector toward specialty procedural care, noting the growth of outpatient cardiovascular procedures.

Sutter Health has broken ground on its Advanced Cancer Center and Care Complex in Modesto, California.
According to a Jan. 15 announcement from the not-for-profit system, the estimated $380 million project will combine cancer services with outpatient care and a surgery center. Sutter framed the build as part of a multi-year push to expand outpatient and specialty access across the Central Valley and consolidate services into a single destination site.
“This new complex will serve as a destination for care in the Central Valley, offering advanced cancer services alongside outpatient care and a surgery center,” Warner Thomas, president and CEO of Sutter Health, said.
As detailed in the announcement, the complex will total 165,000 square feet across four stories on Sutter’s Memorial Medical Center campus and is scheduled to open in 2029. The project is expected to house approximately 120 physicians and 400 team members serving tens of thousands of patients annually.
Franciscan Health, OrthoIndy open orthopedic ASC
Franciscan Health and OrthoIndy have opened the Franciscan Health OrthoIndy Surgery Center in West Lafayette, Indiana, bringing a new outpatient orthopedic surgery facility online for the Greater Lafayette market, according to a Jan. 13 report from The Exponent.
The 44,000-square-foot center consolidates outpatient surgery, clinic visits, imaging, and physical and occupational therapy in a single location. The facility includes four operating rooms, each equipped for Mako robotic-assisted surgery, along with an MRI suite and therapy gym. Thirteen physicians will practice at the site, offering services ranging from joint replacement to sports medicine.
“By bringing key orthopedic services together under one roof, we’re creating a more seamless experience for patients and a purpose-built environment for care teams,” Dr. Mark Page, managing partner of Lafayette Orthopedic Clinic and a physician at the center, said.
As detailed in the article, the surgery center is part of a broader campus build-out, with a freestanding emergency department under construction nearby and additional vertical expansion planned for the site.

Scheduled to open in summer 2027, the 133,000-square-foot St. Louis Children’s at CoxHealth Specialty Care Center is a collaboration supported by WashU Medicine.
The facility will house ambulatory surgery, pediatric primary and specialty care, urgent care, imaging, therapy, sleep studies, lab services, pharmacy and infusion, the station said. Roller Surgery Center opens bariatric ASC
Roller Weight Loss & Advanced Surgery has opened a new ambulatory surgery center (ASC) adjacent to its Fayetteville, Arkansas, clinic, marking what the practice says is the first accredited bariatric ASC in the state, according to a Jan. 5 report in Talk Business & Politics.
As detailed in the article, the 10,000-square-foot Roller Surgery Center at 1695 E. Rainforest Drive is dedicated to advanced bariatric, general, gynecological and plastic surgery procedures. It was developed following the passage of a new state law requiring private insurers to cover bariatric surgery and related care. It includes four operating rooms and four overnight stay rooms.
“Patients can now have weight loss surgery and recover in the comfort of their own home,” Dr. Josh Roller, the center’s medical director, said. “Being able to have weight loss surgery and recover at home reduces the stress and anxiety that surrounds every surgery. It’s also a much more cost-effective option for patients.”
In addition to bariatric procedures such as modified duodenal switch, sleeve gastrectomy and gastric bypass, the surgical center offers reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery, gynecologic surgery and endoscopy, the report said, positioning the facility as a same-day surgical option for a range of procedures in Northwest Arkansas.
