Summit keeps expanding

Summit Spine & Joint Centers has acquired Savannah Pain Management and Savannah Pain Center, adding an interventional pain management practice that includes one clinic and one ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in Savannah, Georgia, according to a Jan. 20 press release.

According to Summit, the deal expands the company’s reach in the Southeast and increases its scale in the Savannah market, where it opened its first clinic and ASC in 2023.

“We are looking forward to continuing to provide the highest level of care to patients suffering from pain in southeast Georgia, with enhanced procedural capabilities and an expanded suite of services,” Dr. Amit Patel, CEO and founder of Summit Spine & Joint Centers, said in a statement.

Summit operates 49 clinics across Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee, along with 19 ASCs.

TriaVision adds VisionFirst

TriaVision has added VisionFirst to its statewide network, according to a Jan. 18 article from 280 Living.

The nearly 30-year-old eye care provider’s five locations are expected to be fully integrated under the TriaVision brand by March 1.

TriaVision operates 13 clinics handling more than 100,000 patients and 9,000 surgical procedures per year.

The company is also reportedly opening a new ophthalmic ASC, which will provide advanced cataract and vision correction procedures in a fully integrated clinic and surgical setting.

NueHealth signs 4 ASC management partnerships

NueHealth has added four ASC management partnerships in Missouri and New Jersey, spanning a mix of minority-equity joint ventures and non-equity management arrangements, according to a Jan. 21 press release.

The new additions include Hackensack Musculoskeletal Surgery Center in Hackensack, New Jersey; St. Joseph Center for Outpatient Surgery in St. Joseph, Missouri; The Surgical Center at Columbia Orthopaedic Group in Columbia, Missouri; and the NueHealth-led development of Surgery Center of the Northland in Platte City, Missouri, which is slated to open in spring 2026.

The company positioned the deals as evidence of a “flexible” partnership approach that can accommodate different ownership and governance preferences.

For example, the St. Joseph Center for Outpatient Surgery preferred a non-equity management arrangement in which the local physician and health system owners retain ownership while accessing centralized operational support and analytics. Hackensack Musculoskeletal Surgery Center adopted a different approach: a minority-equity joint venture establishing a shared ownership structure.

“This growth reflects a clear shift toward a more disciplined, physician-aligned ASC partnerships,” Dan Tasset, founder and executive chairman of NueHealth, said in the release. “Physicians and health systems want flexible structures that respect local leadership while delivering the operational rigor, data integration, and scale required to compete in an evolving outpatient market. Our role is to meet partners where they are and help them build high-performing surgical platforms while preparing them for the future of value-based care and complex reimbursement models.”

Huntsville Hospital Health System to buy Crestwood Medical Center

A subsidiary of Community Health Systems (NYSE: CYH) agreed to sell Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville, Alabama to Huntsville Hospital Health System (HH Health), according to a Jan. 20 press release from HHHS. Expected to close in the second quarter, the $450 million transaction includes all outpatient assets associated with the 180-bed acute-care hospital.

“Our community wants and deserves options for more locally coordinated services and care. Acquiring Crestwood allows us to coordinate and align healthcare resources across the community,” Jeff Samz, president and CEO of HH Health, said.

Evolve Orthopedic Partners adds Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists and New York Spine & Wellness Center

Evolve Orthopedic Partners has struck a strategic partnership with Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists and New York Spine & Wellness Center, according to a Jan. 13 press release from Evolve.

With the additions — along with the groups’ three ambulatory surgery center locations — Evolve said it now supports more than 325 providers, 17 offices and six ASCs across upstate New York.

Evolve characterized the move as supporting physician autonomy and advancing care quality and access, noting that the organizations already have a “long-standing history” of working together.

“By bringing together the strengths and expertise of OrthoNY, Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists and New York Spine & Wellness Center under a unified network, we are able to offer enhanced support and resources that benefit our physicians and the communities they serve,” Jerry Tillinger, CEO of Evolve, said in the press release.

Regent Surgical announces multiple new partnerships

Regent Surgical has partnered with BioSpine, according to a recent LinkedIn post from Regent’s CEO.

The partnership adds two more centers to the Regent portfolio and expands its presence in Florida. BioSpine operates two minimally invasive spine surgery centers, one in each of the Tampa Bay and Orlando areas, treating people with back and neck pain.

“Our mission has always been to bring cutting-edge, minimally invasive spine surgery to more patients, and this partnership will help us scale that vision,” Dr. James Ronzo of BioSpine said in a press release announcing the news.

Regent Surgical also recently entered into a partnership with Lewis & Clark Outpatient Surgery in Lewiston, Idaho, marking the ASC management and development firm’s entry into the Idaho market, according to a Dec. 15 press release from Regent.

The outpatient facility, which operates five operating rooms and offers a range of specialty services including orthopedics, podiatry and ENT, will retain its physician leadership while Regent provides comprehensive management and revenue cycle services.

“Partnering with Lewis & Clark Outpatient Surgery allows us to bring Regent’s unique blend of professional management and operational expertise to a new market,” Travis Messina, CEO of Regent Surgical, said in the announcement. “By working closely with the local physician community, we aim to enhance patient care, expand specialty offerings, and create long-term stability for the center.”

“With Regent’s management, we’ll be able to streamline scheduling, reduce cost barriers, and expand our robotic-assisted and specialty offerings right here in Lewiston,” said Dr. Sennett Pierce of Lewis & Clark.
