Surgery Partners secures new JV

Surgery Partners Inc. (Nasdaq: SGRY) has inked a new joint venture with Baylor Scott & White Health.

The Brentwood, Tennessee-based Surgery Partners is a surgical services business with more than 200 locations across 30 states, including ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs). Among its other JV partners are OhioHealth, Parkview Health and Vanderbilt Health.

Meanwhile, Baylor Scott & White Health is the largest not-for-profit health system in Texas. It serves more than 3 million people through 53 hospitals, including flagship academic medical centers in Dallas, Fort Worth and Temple.

As part of the JV, Surgery Partners and Baylor Scott & White Health will “jointly own with physicians” the 16-bed hospital in Bryan known as The Physicians Centre Hospital.

The facility offers “a broad range of surgical options for bariatric, ophthalmologic, oral/maxillofacial, orthopedic, gastroenterological, podiatric, spinal and urologic conditions,” according to Surgery Partners. It also provides general, plastic and reconstructive surgery, as well as sports medicine, pain management and radiology services.

“This marks a significant step forward in expanding access to quality patient care in the Bryan College Station community,” Mike Sanborn, chief growth officer of Baylor Scott & White, said in a press release. “This joint venture partnership reflects our ongoing dedication to customer-centered care and strategic growth in the communities we serve.”

AMSURG strikes again

AMSURG is expanding within the Pennsylvania market with the acquisition of Advanced Center for Surgery.

The partnership marks the company’s first center in the central region of the state.

“We are honored to welcome the Advanced Center for Surgery team to the AMSURG network,” John Lamberth, chief development officer at AMSURG, said in a statement. “This center has built a strong reputation for increasing access to patient-centered surgical care.”

Advanced Center for Surgery is a 12,500 square-foot facility with four operating rooms. The center’s 17 physicians specialize in orthopedics, podiatry, and ear, nose and throat (ENT) procedures, among others.

“We look forward to collaborating with them to support their momentum, broaden their impact and help meet the growing need for outpatient surgery in the area,” Lamberth continued.

AleraCare, Pure Healthcare complete merger

AleraCare, a provider of infusion and specialty pharmacy services across the U.S., and Pure Healthcare, a national medical group delivering health care services for patients with complex chronic conditions, announced the completion of their merger.

“Today marks a major step forward for patients, physicians, and our payer partners who rely on timely, coordinated access to advanced therapies,” Joe Cosgrove, CEO of the combined company, said in a press release. “By uniting AleraCare and Pure Healthcare, we’re combining top-tier clinical talent with scalable operations and technology — so patients can begin therapy sooner, providers can practice confidently, and payers can see real value at the right site of care.”

The company has begun integration, ensuring uninterrupted patient care and consistent communication with referring providers, payers and industry partners. Branding, system and digital integration efforts are underway, with the unified branding to be announced later.

AleraCare provides care to patients in over 30 locations across six states throughout the U.S., including Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, New Mexico and Utah. The company’s core lines of business include ambulatory infusion centers, home infusion therapy and specialty pharmacy.

Pure Healthcare operates Pure Infusion Suites alongside specialty clinics and is based in Taylorsville, Utah.

BGO acquires ASC in Durham

Global real estate investment manager BGO has acquired EmergeOrtho Southpoint, a fully leased, two-story Class A medical outpatient building featuring an ambulatory surgery center in Durham, North Carolina.

Built in 2020 and located within the Triangle region of Durham, Raleigh and Chapel Hill, the 35,171-square-foot property is currently leased to EmergeOrtho, one of North Carolina’s largest orthopedic groups.

“EmergeOrtho Southpoint is a valuable addition to our medical outpatient building portfolio in one of the Southeast’s most vibrant markets,” Kevin Yen, principal of investments at BGO, said in a press release. “The property’s close proximity to leading medical institutions and its long-term lease with a top-tier orthopedic provider strengthen its strong position within the rapidly expanding Research Triangle.”

Mediplex Property Group acquires ASC-anchored facility in West Chester

Mediplex Property Group has purchased a 28,127-square-foot health care center on 6.4 acres in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

The entire first floor features the MUVE-West Chester Ambulatory Surgery Center and Stay Suites, an integrated specialty medical facility operated by Surgery Partners, a nationwide health care company with over 250 locations across 30 states.

This transaction is the newest addition to Mediplex Property Group’s portfolio of health care-focused real estate.

Fox Valley Orthopedics partners with Sequel

Fox Valley Orthopedics (FVO) has partnered with Sequel Ortho, a portfolio company of InTandem Capital Partners.

Partnering with Sequel Ortho, FVO is expected to gain enhanced operational support, advanced data and analytics capabilities, and other strategic resources while preserving its physician-led model focused on serving its communities.

Founded in 1973, FVO is home to 20 physicians, 21 advanced practice providers and over 30 physical therapists across eight clinics and 10 physical therapy locations in the Fox Valley region of Illinois.

The practice offers premier services across sub-specialties, including total joint replacement, sports medicine, spine care, hand surgery, foot and ankle, pain management and physical therapy.

FVO prioritizes patient convenience with same-day orthopedic care at its OrthoFirst Walk-in Clinic and FVO-owned ASC.

Founded in 2023, Sequel Ortho is a musculoskeletal-focused, value-based management organization based in Omaha, Nebraska, created to empower physicians and practices to innovate and advance orthopedic care.

Regent adds another facility

Regent Surgical announced on LinkedIn at the start of December that Stuart Surgery Center and Tradition Surgery Center have joined its network.

The development marks “a major milestone” in Regent’s partnership with Cleveland Clinic, the ASC company noted in a post.

Stuart Surgery Center specializes in endoscopy, while Tradition Surgery Center is a multispecialty facility. Both are in the Port St. Lucie, Florida area, according to Regent.

Regent and Cleveland Clinic announced their joint venture partnership in May 2025.

“Ambulatory surgery centers provide an important setting for health systems to expand access to surgeries, and to be more efficient in the delivery of services,” Cleveland Clinic CEO and President Dr. Tom Mihaljevic said at the time. “Regent’s capabilities in managing and operating ambulatory surgery centers will enable us to focus on continuing to provide the highest quality care for our patients, and will enhance our ability to grow and offer that care to more patients.”
