O.R. Staffing Solutions (ORSS), a specialized provider of operating room workforce solutions for hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), has appointed Brent Bormaster as CEO. The company also added two health care staffing veterans to its board.
The move comes on the heels of a recapitalization and growth partnership with Argosy Healthcare Partners (AHP).
Bormaster joins ORSS after serving as president of AHS Staffing, part of American Health Staffing Group (AHSG), where he oversaw the company’s nationwide nurse and allied staffing business. Before that, he spent 18 years at AMN Healthcare (NYSE: AMN), rising to divisional vice president over the hospitalists and emergency medicine divisions.
Mark Smith, who co-founded AHS Staffing with Jerick Henley, will serve as executive chairman. Henley has joined the board as a director. The three have a history of scaling health care staffing companies together, including leading AHSG through two private equity exits.
“Brent is one of the sharpest operators I’ve worked with in this industry,” Smith said in a press release. “His ability to lead with both clarity and compassion has been instrumental in past successes, and I have every confidence he’ll bring the same energy and vision to ORSS.”
Founded in 2015 by former surgical and perioperative clinicians, ORSS focuses on operating room staffing, including certified surgical technologists, OR and PACU nurses, sterile processing technicians, and radiology technicians.
“We don’t just fill roles. We understand the flow of a case, the importance of trust among the surgical team, and the stakes of every procedure,” ORSS founder Farah Rajwany said in a press release.
“We have shown our model works in one of the most demanding markets in the country,” Rajwany continued. “Now, with Argosy’s partnership, we are excited about the opportunity to expand our reach and accelerate growth — especially in the ASC segment, where demand for high-quality, cost-effective staffing solutions is increasing.”
The Argosy partnership is expected to accelerate ORSS’s national expansion, Bormaster said.
“With the support of Mark and Jerick, and the talent of our dedicated team, we believe we are well-positioned to expand our impact and continue delivering exceptional value to our clients and clinicians,” Bormaster said.
Other Argosy portfolio companies include Command Medical Products, Connect Life Sciences and Nicklas Laboratory Staffing, among others.
