ReFocus Eye Health buys New View Eye Center
ReFocus Eye Health has acquired New View Eye Center, a Northern Virginia-based ophthalmology practice known for its laser and specialty eye care services. The partnership, announced July 15, brings new administrative and financial support to New View while preserving its personalized, patient-first care model.
“Welcoming New View Eye Center to ReFocus Eye Health is an exciting milestone in our mission to expand and diversify access to specialty eye care across the broader D.C. area,” Jeff Rinkov, CEO of ReFocus Eye Health, said in a press release.
Founded in 1999, New View has grown into a full-service practice with an onsite laser center and expanded offerings such as cataract surgery, diabetic eye treatment, eyelid rejuvenation and injectable aesthetic services.
“Our patients are like family, and we’re thrilled to join ReFocus Eye Health, which shares our values and vision for the future of eye care,” said Dr. Jacqueline Deneen Griffiths, medical director at New View Eye Center.
ReFocus Eye Health operates a network of over 150 providers and 79 locations across eight states, including an ambulatory surgery center.
StrideCare expands into South Carolina
StrideCare has partnered with Coastal Vascular & Vein Center, marking the Dallas-based group’s entry into the South Carolina market while furthering its mission to provide integrated vascular and lower-extremity care across the Southeast.
“Coastal Vascular & Vein Center has earned a trusted reputation for innovation and high-quality vascular care,” Al Wilson, CEO of StrideCare, said in a press release. “Their patient-first approach aligns perfectly with our values.”
Based in Charleston, Coastal Vascular operates across six locations and is home to South Carolina’s first and only dedicated vascular ambulatory surgery center. Its facilities also include endovascular centers, vascular labs and specialized treatment rooms for vein care.
“We’re excited to join StrideCare in a partnership that strengthens our shared mission to provide the highest level of vascular care,” Dr. Adam Keefer, medical director and president of Coastal Vascular, said in a press release.
ChristianaCare and Virtua Health explore merger
ChristianaCare and Virtua Health have signed a non-binding letter of intent to co-found a regional nonprofit health system spanning more than 10 counties across Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland.
“This is an exciting first step in a collaborative journey to amplify the strengths of two trusted health systems,” Dennis Pullin, president and CEO of Virtua Health, said in a press release.
If finalized, the combined system will include over 600 sites of care and nearly 30,000 employees, with academic programs supporting more than 500 residents and fellows. The organizations say their vision includes expanding access to urgent, primary, behavioral and maternal health care, while building on shared innovations such as hospital-at-home programs.

ChristianaCare and Atlas Healthcare Partners formed a joint venture aimed at developing a network of ambulatory surgery centers in 2024.
Integrated Pain Associates announces new partnership
Integrated Pain Associates (IPA) has partnered with Lubbock Spine Institute (LSI), expanding its interventional spine and pain management services into Lubbock, Midland and Amarillo, Texas.
“The pain management space has undergone a meaningful evolution,” said Dr. Scott Irvine, president of IPA, in a press release. “IPA and LSI share a commitment to advancing this superior clinical model and providing best-in-class care for our patients.”
The move builds on IPA’s ongoing expansion under Triton Pacific Healthcare Partners, which invested in the platform in 2023. IPA focuses on bringing minimally invasive pain procedures to underserved markets and aims to shift care away from high-cost hospital settings.
“This is an opportunity for us to participate in building a truly differentiated platform,” said Dr. Bolkar Sahinler of LSI. “With the combined capabilities of IPA and LSI, we anticipate meaningful benefits for both patients and providers.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Florac and Star Mountain also participated as investors in the platform.
Flagship Healthcare Properties acquires South Carolina ASC
Flagship Healthcare Properties has acquired a fully leased multispecialty ambulatory surgery center in Columbia, South Carolina, the company announced July 14.
Located at 109 Blarney Drive, the 20,131-square-foot facility houses Palmetto Surgery Center and includes five operating rooms. The building is home to more than 20 surgeons and sits near MUSC Health Columbia Medical Center Northeast.
“Ambulatory surgery centers are at the forefront of transformation in health care delivery,” Blake Bratcher, executive vice president of ambulatory surgery centers at Flagship, said in a press release. “We are continuing to capitalize on new opportunities in alignment with physicians and surgery center operators to help them maximize their real estate so they can carry out their mission more effectively.”
Flagship, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, will provide property and asset management services for the facility. The company currently manages more than 7.6 million square feet of health care real estate across the U.S.
U.S. Oral Surgery Management expands into Utah
U.S. Oral Surgery Management (USOSM) has partnered with Hopkin Oral Surgery of Salt Lake City, marking its first affiliated practice in Utah and bringing its network to more than 260 surgeons across 30 states.
“Dr. Hopkin is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon with a well-deserved reputation for exceptional patient care and dedication to clinical excellence, qualities we highly value and look for in all of our surgeon partners,” USOSM Board Chairman Richard Hall said in a news release.
Hopkin Oral Surgery, led by Dr. Dustin J. Hopkin, offers a broad range of services including dental implants, extractions, TMJ treatment and oral pathology.
Headquartered in Irving, Texas, USOSM is a management services organization focused exclusively on supporting board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeons nationwide.
Community Health Systems finalizes $436M sale
Community Health Systems (NYSE: CYH) has completed the sale of its 80% stake in Cedar Park Regional Medical Center and affiliated businesses in Cedar Park, Texas, to Ascension Health for $436 million, the company announced.
Ascension, which previously held a minority interest in the facility, now fully owns the hospital. As part of the deal, Community Health Systems subsidiaries also distributed about $23 million owed to the center to Ascension. The transaction was first announced April 15 and closed on June 30.
Community Health Systems is one of the largest health care companies in the U.S., operating 70 affiliated hospitals and more than 1,000 sites of care across 14 states. The company is headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee.
