AMSURG has acquired an ownership interest in Texarkana Surgery Center, an ambulatory surgery center (ASC) near the Texas-Arkansas border. Financial terms were not disclosed.
John Lamberth, chief development officer at AMSURG, told Ambulatory Surgery Center News the move reflects the company’s ongoing strategy to partner with ASCs that demonstrate strong clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction.
“We have built a robust pipeline since becoming a standalone company in November 2023,” Lamberth said in an email. “Our team generates leads through several channels including brokered deals, proprietary opportunities, and referrals from our physician and health system partners.”
Texarkana Surgery Center spans 17,000 square feet, with four operating rooms and three procedure rooms. The center specializes in same-day procedures across multiple disciplines, including ophthalmology, orthopedics, gastroenterology, gynecology and general surgery.
“Their skilled team and proven record of prioritizing patient experience, in combination with our support, make this partnership a seamless fit that will provide valuable contributions to the community,” Lamberth said.
The partnership offers Texarkana Surgery Center access to AMSURG’s clinical oversight and back-end management support. By sharing operational expertise and implementing scalable solutions, AMSURG aims to increase patient throughput, maintain high standards of safety and comfort, and bolster community engagement, Lamberth said.
AMSURG, which operates over 250 surgery centers nationwide, continues to see robust competition when pursuing new centers, Lamberth said. And competition comes in all shapes and sizes, including ASC managers, health systems and physician groups.
Still, Lamberth was bullish on his outlook for the coming year.
“We anticipate that 2025 will be an active year for our M&A teams,” he said.
Other recent deals for AMSURG include its deal in July to acquire a majority-ownership interest in River Road Surgery Center in Salem, Oregon. The facility specialises in ear, nose and throat (ENT) procedures, among others.
A month earlier, in June 2024, AMSURG and Comprehensive EyeCare Partners teamed up to purchase Alta Rose Surgery Center in Las Vegas.
