New medical office building construction begins near Gleneagle
Construction has started on a new two-story medical office building in Colorado Springs, Colorado, aimed at expanding cardiology and vascular care access.
The 35,000-square-foot facility will feature an ambulatory surgery center, a standalone cardiac catheterization lab, imaging services and diagnostic facilities.
“This has been part of the plan for Colorado Springs Cardiology, in the name of expanding access for patients for cardiology, ambulatory surgery and outpatient cardiac procedures,” Peter Burd, COO of Heart & Vascular Partners, told local news. “It will be a full clinic that includes diagnostic imaging and also serves patients for routine exams.”
Heart & Vascular Partners, a nationwide managed-services organization, last year became the operating partner for Colorado Springs Cardiology, an independent practice that was previously based inside St. Francis Hospital before relocating in November 2023, Burd said.
The center is being developed by Remedy Medical Properties and Kayne Anderson Real Estate. Colorado Springs Cardiology will operate as the primary tenant. The facility is scheduled to open in November 2025.
St. Tammany’s $75 million surgery center to open in 2025
St. Tammany Health System is set to open its new $75 million surgery center in Covington, Louisiana, later this month. The 126,000-square-foot facility will focus on same-day procedures, such as knee surgeries and hysterectomies, with 12 operating rooms.
The center will be equipped with advanced technology, including motion sensor lighting that kills bacteria, 4K video screens, and a sterilization process designed to ensure safety and efficiency. While primarily dedicated to outpatient procedures, the facility will also include 15 rooms for overnight stays when necessary.
“This new center will provide world-class care right here on the north shore,” Brian Grissom, director of anesthesia for St. Tammany Health System, told local news.
The center expects to serve over 5,800 patients in its first year and will free up space at the nearby main hospital for critical care cases, executives said. Construction began two years ago and is set to conclude with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on December 17.
NexCore launches Katy project
NexCore Group has started construction on a new medical office building in Katy, Texas. The facility, located within the Katy Boardwalk District, aims to enhance outpatient care accessibility in the area and will be anchored by an ambulatory surgery center.
The 60,000-square-foot building will include a range of medical specialties and outpatient services, catering to the growing healthcare demands of Katy’s expanding population, executives said in a press release.
“This collaboration is the latest chapter in a series of partnerships between NexCore and Surgery Ventures, powered by HCA Healthcare,” Jim Hartmann, executive vice president with NexCore, said in a press release. “These projects are made possible through the partnership that we form with the physicians in the ownership of the real estate. Dr. Haas was instrumental in securing the land for this project and was the physician champion who facilitated the successful partnership.”
The medical office building is part of a broader mixed-use development project and is scheduled for completion in late 2025.
