U.S. Heart & Vascular (USHV) has partnered with Birmingham Heart Clinic, a 15-physician group focused on providing a full spectrum of cardiovascular care.

Formed in 2021 and based in Nashville, Tennessee, USHV specializes in cardiovascular care, with ASCs a key part of its overall strategy, allowing the organization to provide outpatient procedures in a convenient and cost-effective setting.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Birmingham Heart Clinic to the USHV family,” CEO Robbie Allen said in a press release. “BHC’s culture of high-quality care and entrepreneurial innovation aligns exceptionally well with that of US Heart and Vascular.”

Birmingham Heart Clinic was established more than 25 years ago. The group regularly treats coronary, carotid and peripheral disease. It also specializes in minimally invasive procedures to repair aortic aneurysms and replace aortic valves.

“We are excited to partner with US Heart and Vascular, as it enhances our ability to remain a premier, independent cardiovascular practice providing the highest quality care,” Dr.  Robert Yoe, an interventional cardiologist at Birmingham Heart Clinic, said in the release. “This collaboration will allow Birmingham Heart to expand its services and improve patient access throughout Alabama.”

Alabama has a high prevalence of heart disease, and it’s the leading cause of death in the state, according to government health care statistics. A 2021 study done by University of Alabama at Birmingham researchers, in fact, identified the state as one of the worst performing in the U.S. fr cardiovascular risk factors.

“Alabama has generally been an underserved market, and this partnership will allow us to further our commitment of increasing patient access and improving outcomes as we deploy our value-based care strategy across the state,” USHV’s Allen noted.

More partnerships for USHV are likely coming, as the organization is “actively seeking new partnerships with quality cardiovascular practices and entrepreneurial physicians across the country,” the press release highlighted.

US Heart & Vascular partnered with investment firm Rubicon Founders to expand its network and scale its model across the U.S. in 2023.
