The ambulatory surgery center (ASC) joint venture landscape continues to heat up.

Earlier this month, CHRISTUS Health and Kerrville Surgery Center announced they had finalized a joint venture to provide specialized surgical care to the Texas Hill Country as CHRISTUS Surgery Center.

“Since opening its doors, 16 years ago, Kerrville Surgery Center has delivered high-quality care in a friendly, patient-focused setting,” Gary Ruff, vice president of ambulatory surgery centers for CHRISTUS Health, said in a press release. “We’re proud of this joint venture and to welcome this well-established team to the CHRISTUS family to continue serving the Texas Hill Country community.”

CHRISTUS Health is a Catholic, not-for-profit system made up of more than 600 centers, including community hospitals, urgent care centers, health insurance companies and physician clinics. The organization has more than 15,000 physicians in its network.

“We are excited to partner with CHRISTUS Health,” Dr. Russell S. Cravey, founding owner of Kerrville Surgery Center, said in the release.

CHRISTUS Surgery Center is located at 1001 Water St. Building C in Kerrville. Moving forward, the 5,700-square-foot ASC will continue to offer care in multiple medical specialties, including ophthalmology, gastrointestinal, pain management, gynecology and oculoplastics.

“We want to assure our patients and the community that even though the name on the door may change, the care will not,” Cravey continued. “We will continue to provide top-notch, patient-centered care, with the CHRISTUS Health network.”

CHRISTUS Health has been active on the JV front – and more action is to be expected.

“CHRISTUS’ growth and partnerships across the south Texas region have been deliberate as it continues to expand, innovate and improve health care in the communities it serves,” the press release teased.
