Akron Children’s expands pediatric services in Greater Cleveland with new outpatient surgery, urgent care centers
Akron Children’s Hospital is expanding its services in Greater Cleveland by opening a new outpatient surgery center and pediatric urgent care center, as well as increasing access to specialists in high-demand areas such as cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, ENT and orthopedics.
The new Akron Children’s Outpatient Surgery Center in Beachwood, opening on July 23, will provide local families with timely access to pediatric GI, orthopedic and ENT surgeries. Plans to introduce additional pediatric surgical specialties are set for early 2025.
This facility aims to replicate the high-quality care available at their other outpatient centers in Akron and Boardman, ensuring that patients receive consistent and specialized care close to home, Chris Gessner, president and CEO of Akron Children’s, said in a press release.
“We think we can address an unmet need by making our pediatric specialists and surgeons more accessible,” Gessner said. “Parents want the highest quality pediatric care, and they want to be able to schedule appointments quickly and easily through an app or online. Our team is 100% kid-focused and it is our job to help them grow up safe and healthy.”
